| Contemporary American designer Michele McManus presents dichroic glass in this camera shy expansion bracelet. According to the designer, dichroic means that it has more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles, and it is pure color that glimmers and shines like a mirror. Before dichroic color was developed (1950's), there was not a man-made material that possessed true iridescence. McManus says,"I start with full sheets of glass. Each piece I make has dozens and dozens of small pieces of glass. I fire each piece in a kiln up to six times. I finish the glass the same way semi-precious stones are worked." The bracelet is 2" high and the pieces of glass are held together by three strings of elastic. The bracelet fits snuggly. | |||||
